We’ll discover the most scenic and romantic areas of the country, and tour beautiful castles and gardens, including Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the Queen Mum.  We’ll explore the history of this amazing country as we tour the Highlands and the Isles, including Skye and Iona, the birthplace of Celtic Christianity.  We will be entranced by scenery, that is at once both grand and mystical and learn how ancient peoples were able to inhabit this rugged landscape of lochs and glens and moors. Best of all, we will enjoy the civilized routine of afternoon tea each day.

The tour will be a uniquely casual, family-style experience as we travel together on a small bus with our local guide through Scotland. We will also take ferries, a train, a cruise on Loch Ness and get to the top of mountains for sweeping views of the surrounding beauty via a tram and funicular

The hotels and inns we select are chosen for their charm, amenities, and location.  We’ll even be staying in a castle in the Highlands.

Our Afternoon Tea each day will vary from charming owner-operated tea rooms, to hotels and inns. On this tour, we will have tea in a library, a bank and a train.  There is also a day where we will cobble together a picnic tea to enjoy on the beach, weather permitting.

If epic scenery, history and afternoon tea are your passions, don’t miss this tour!

Immediately recognizable, Edinburgh (the burgh is always pronounced burra in Scotland) with its hilltop fortress which towers over the city, perched majestically on top of a volcanic outcrop,  is at once both ancient and modern, and provides a perfect introduction to this land and its history.

We’ll start with a hop on bus tour to get oriented and the following day, walk the Royal Mile from the Castle to the Palace of Holyrood House with a guide who will acquaint us with the historic locations along the way.
